Following recent data breaches, all state governments are now requiring both licence number and card number be used for verification. Select your state below.
New South Wales
Licence Number appears under 'Licence No' on the front left hand side of the card. Card Number is on the top right hand side of the front of the card (circled red).
Victoria
Licence Number is found on the top right on the front of the card.
For cards not impacted by the Optus breach - card number is found on the back of the card in small font directly underneath your year of birth (8 alphanumeric characters).
For cards impacted by the Optus breach: Card number is found on the back of the card at the top right hand side OR on the change of address sticker label (circled in red in the images below).
Queensland
Licences issued after 12 June 2019:
Licence number is on the top right hand side of the front of the card under 'LICENCE NO'. Card number is also on the front of the card on the bottom in the centre (circled in red).
Licences issues before 12 June 2019:
The card number can be found on the back of the card at the bottom right (circled red below).
Western Australia
Licence number appears under ‘Licence Number’ on the front of the card. The card number can be found on the right hand side of the back (circled in green).
South Australia
Licence number can be found under ‘Licence No.’ on the front of the card. The card number can be found on the top right hand side of the back (circled in red).
Tasmania
Licence number appears under ‘LIC NO.’ on the front of the card. The card number is on the top right on the back of the card (circled in green below).
Northern Territory
Licence number appears under ‘Licence Number’ on the front of the card. Card number is at the bottom of the back of your card (circled in red below).
