Sorry to hear that! If you would like to pay your kid for a PayDay that was missed, you can make a one-off transfer to your kid’s account or amend the PayDay amount, if Boss approvals are turned on.
There are a few reasons why this may have happened, so we have a few suggestions on preventing this in the future.
My child didn't get paid at all
My kid ticked off jobs, but the app says they’ve earned $0
Reason: They may not have ticked off jobs in time.
- Jobs need to be ticked off the day before PayDay to be counted. Remember, you can install Kit on your kids’ devices so they can tick off their jobs themselves.
- Make sure your notifications are turned on. Notifications let you know that PayDay is coming up.
Reason: Child has ticked off some, but not all 'required jobs' for their regular pocket money amount
All chores set up as 'Required for pocket money' need to be completed for the regular pocket money amount to be paid. It’s all or nothing.
If you have Boss approvals turned on, you can amend how Required jobs are paid.
If you would like to set up jobs so they are paid for each job they complete, set them up as 'Earn per job'.
How should I set up my kid’s jobs?
Reason: PayDay was not yet approved
If you have Boss approvals turned on and have forgotten to approve PayDay, you can review and approve the last PayDay.
- Open the Kit app.
- Log in as the Boss.
- On the Boss overview, tap on the notification to approve your child’s PayDay, or go to your child’s ‘Earn’ tab and tap ‘Review last PayDay’.
- Review and approve the PayDay.
Reason: Insufficient funds in your linked bank account
If a direct debit rejects due to insufficient funds, it will not be attempted again by Kit. You will need to manually transfer the funds to your child.
Note that your bank may charge you an overdraft fee if you have insufficient funds – so when you receive the ‘PayDay is tomorrow’ notification, make sure you have enough in your bank account.
Reason: You edited PayDay on the day it was set to run
If you edit PayDay on the day and it has not yet run, it will cancel PayDay for that day, and will start instead on the next PayDay period.
This means if your approvals for PayDay are every Monday, and you edit PayDay on a Monday, then the next debit to occur on your account will be the following Monday and not that day.
My child got paid the wrong amount
Reason: Some chores are set up as ‘Required for regular pocket money’
If your child has some chores set up as ‘Required for regular pocket money’, they must complete all their Required chores for pocket money to be paid out.
If you have Boss approvals turned on, you can amend how Required jobs are paid.
Reason: You amended the pocket money amount
If you have Boss approvals turned on, you may have amended the amount manually before approving PayDay. When this happens, you will see different amounts in the Review PayDay screen with ‘Amount earned’ and the actual amount paid.
