Help! My child didn’t get paid, or got paid the wrong amount
Sorry to hear that! If you would like to pay your kid for a PayDay that was missed, you can make a one-off transfer to your kid’s account or amend the PayDay amount, if Boss approvals are turned on.
There are a few reasons why this may have happened, so we have a few suggestions on preventing this in the future.
My child didn't get paid at all
1. Ensure jobs are ticked off in time.
- Jobs need to be ticked off the day before PayDay to be counted. Remember, you can install Kit on your kids’ devices so they can tick off their jobs themselves.
- Make sure your notifications are turned on, on your device. You will receive a reminder the day before PayDay to tick off all jobs. If your child has Kit on their device, you can also enable notifications. How can my child get Kit on their phone or tablet?
2. Ensure that all ‘Must do’ jobs are ticked off
- All chores set up as ‘Must do' jobs need to be ticked for the regular pocket money amount to be paid.
- If you would like to set up jobs so they are paid for each job they complete, set them up as 'Earn per job'.
How should I set up my kid’s jobs?
3. Ensure PayDay has been approved
If you have Boss approvals turned on and have forgotten to approve PayDay, you can review and approve the last PayDay.
- Open the Kit app.
- Log in as the Boss.
- On the Boss overview, tap on the notification to approve your child’s PayDay, or go to your child’s ‘Earn’ tab and tap ‘Review last PayDay’.
- Review and approve the PayDay.
4. Ensure there are sufficient funds in the linked bank account
- If a direct debit rejects due to insufficient funds, it will not be attempted again by Kit. You will need to manually transfer the funds to your child.
- Note that your bank may charge you an overdraft fee if you have insufficient funds – so when you receive the ‘PayDay is tomorrow’ notification, make sure you have enough in your bank account.
5. Avoid editing PayDay on the day it is set to run
- If you edit PayDay on the day and it has not yet run, it will cancel PayDay for that day and will start instead on the next PayDay period.
- Example: Your child’s PayDay is every Monday, and you edit PayDay on Monday. PayDay will not run that day and your child will be paid on newly set day.
My child got paid the wrong amount
1. Ensure that all ‘Must do’ jobs are ticked off
- All chores set up as ‘Must do' jobs need to be ticked for the regular pocket money amount to be paid.
- If you would like to set up jobs so they are paid for each job they complete, set them up as ‘Earn per job’
2. Amount paid may have been amended
- If you have Boss approvals turned on, you may have amended the amount manually before approving PayDay. When this happens, the ‘Amount earned’ on the Review PayDay screen will be different to the actual amount paid.
