Why we need your personal information

For each new Kit account being opened, we require the customer to verify their identity. This ensures that only you are using your identity document. It helps us keep your account safe, as well as prevent unauthorised account openings.

You will need to provide identity verification information including taking a photo of your physical ID document and your face. We use a provider, Jumio, to facilitate this check. 

Why we need a photo of your ID and face 

The photo of the ID is compared with a live photo of your face to ensure it is you using your ID details. Technology for account verification has evolved over time, so while you may not have done this before, this technology is currently used by multiple banks in Australia for opening new accounts. 

What happens to information collected by Jumio

This document outlines: 

  • Jumio will retain the personal information for (i) the period necessary to fulfil the purposes 
    and (ii) as long as required by law or (iii) as long as relevant potential legal claims are not yet time-barred.
  • Jumio will permanently destroy such biometric data derived from images and recordings in its possession within three years after you first provided those images or videos.
