Google Pay is a simple, helpful, and secure way to checkout at applicable merchants everywhere contactless payments are accepted.
Add your Kit card to Google Wallet™ to pay with Google Pay using your device instead of a physical card on websites, in apps, and in stores.
Google Pay protects your payment info with multiple layers of security, using one of the world’s most advanced security infrastructures to help keep your account safe. When you pay in stores, Google Pay doesn’t share your actual Kit card number, so your information stays secure.
Google does not charge any fees when you use Google Pay. Find out more about Google Pay on the Google website.
Age requirements
Google Pay can be set up for teens over 16. These age requirements are set by Google and not Kit.
Parents can add their child’s card to their own Google Wallet and allow kids to use their device when making a purchase in-store or online. Cards can be added to multiple devices.
Adding the card to Google Pay from the Kit app
To add the Kit card to Google Pay:
- Ensure you’ve downloaded the Google Wallet app on your Android device.
- Open the Kit app.
- Navigate to your child’s profile. You can do this by entering your Boss profile then tapping on your child’s name, or selecting the child’s profile on the ‘Who’s there?’ screen.
- Tap on the ‘Spend’ tab.
- Tap on 'Manage'.
- Tap on ‘Add card to Google Wallet’.
- Follow the prompts to add the card.
To keep them safe, your kid will not be able to set up Google Pay on their device without you entering the Boss Code.
Will it work on my device?
You’ll need to make sure the Android device supports NFC.
- On your device, open the Settings app.
- In the search bar, type ‘NFC.’
- Turn on Use NFC.
If you can’t find NFC, you can’t make contactless payments with your phone. Find out more information about NFC settings.
Adding the Kit card from Google Wallet
You can also add your card directly from the Google Wallet app on your Android device. Follow these instructions to add the Kit card using the Google Wallet app.
Where can Google Pay be used?

Why didn’t my Google Pay transaction complete?
If the check mark isn’t on your screen, try the following:
- Try to hold your phone in a different way. Your NFC antenna could be near the top or bottom of your device.
- Hold your phone closer to the payment reader.
- Hold your phone to the payment reader for a few extra seconds.
If there’s a check mark but the merchant says that the payment didn’t work:
- Double check that the store accepts mobile payments.
- Check your Kit app. There may be an issue with your card and the transaction may have declined. If the transaction is declined, you aren’t charged. Review our article on declined transactions here.
What if I lose my Android device?
Your Kit card information is stored securely in Google Pay, so your card details are still safe. Contact us and we can put a hold on your card. You can also use Android Device Manager to either lock your device or perform a remote factory reset to prevent further Google Pay transactions being processed.
