Set up instant transfers with PayTo

PayTo lets you make fast, secure payments in the Kit app directly from your bank account. Unlike direct debit, which may take up to 3 business days to clear, PayTo transfers are instant, so your child can receive their PayDays and transfers initiated from the Kit app straightaway.

Each child has their own PayTo agreement, and you must approve an agreement for each child to enable instant transfers.

  • When you add a new kid profile, you must approve a new Kit PayTo agreement for that child.
  • If you update your Boss Linked Account, or have your account re-opened, you must approve new PayTo agreements for all of your children.

Until you complete all the steps below, PayDays and in-app transfers will be processed via direct debit and may take up to 3 business days to clear. This includes payments initiated prior to the approval of a PayTo agreement, even if they have not yet settled.

Step 1: Check if you have enabled instant transfers

First, check if you have already set up PayTo:

  1. Open the Kit app.
  2. Enter the Boss Profile.
  3. Tap on the menu icon.
  4. Go to ‘Account settings’.
  5. Tap on ‘Manage Boss Linked Account’.
  6. Tap on ‘Manage instant transfers’ to see a list of kid profiles and the status of their instant transfers.
    • If your child’s profile has a green tick mark next to it, PayTo is set up correctly for that child and in-app transactions for them will be instant.
    • If you see any other statuses or do not see the ‘Manage instant transfers’ button, you will need to take additional steps to set up PayTo.

Step 2: Request a PayTo agreement to be sent to your bank

Follow steps 1-6 in the previous section.

If you see a link saying ‘Turn on instant transfers’, this means that Kit first needs to send a PayTo agreement to your bank for your child.

  • If you see the link on the ‘Manage Boss Linked Account’ screen, tap the link to send a PayTo agreement to your bank for all kid profiles.
  • If you see the link on the ‘Manage instant transfers’ screen, tapping the link will send a PayTo agreement to your bank for that kid profile only. Tap on the link for all kid profiles which show that option.

If you see other statuses saying the PayTo agreements need to be approved, resumed, or re-sent, this means that the PayTo agreements have already been sent to your bank and you can proceed to the next step. (Note that Kit automatically sends PayTo agreements to your bank when the Kit account is first created, the Boss Linked Account is updated, or a new kid profile is added.)

If you cannot find any links asking you to ‘Turn on instant transfers’ or any other status, your bank may not be enabled for PayTo

Questions and troubleshooting

Step 3a: Approve or resume the PayTo agreement

If you see the messages ‘Approve Kit PayTo agreement’ or ‘Resume Kit PayTo agreement’, log in to your banking app or website to approve or resume the agreement(s).

  • You must approve PayTo agreements within 5 days, otherwise the agreement will expire and you will need to send new PayTo agreements from the Kit app (see Step 2).
  • You must approve separate agreements for each child. If you have 3 children, you will receive 3 Kit PayTo agreements and all 3 must be approved for each child to have instant transfers.

After approving or resuming the Kit PayTo agreement, your child’s profile should now be enabled for instant transfers. You should see their updated status in the app.

    Questions and troubleshooting

Step 3b: If you have the ‘Send a new Kit PayTo agreement’ status

You will see this status if the BSB and account number on the Kit PayTo agreement is different from the Boss Linked Account in Kit. This happens if you updated the BSB and account number on the agreement from your banking app or website but not on the Kit app. In this scenario, in-app transactions will be processed through direct debit using the bank account listed as your Boss Linked Account.

    To fix, you can either:

    • Update the Boss Linked Account in Kit to match the PayTo agreement, if you would like to use the new bank account for in-app transfers OR
    • Tap the ‘Send a new Kit PayTo agreement’ link. This will generate a new Kit PayTo agreement based on the existing BSB and account number details saved in Kit.

Approve any new Kit PayTo agreements in your banking app or website to ensure your kids have instant transfers.
